M3 chip upgrades

The M3 chip will be manufactured on a 3 nanometer process, which will give us about 35% lower power consumption. The core count will remain the same as the M1 and M2 chips, but the power efficiency will be improved.

The improved thermal efficiency of the chip will result in better performance and longer battery life. The M3 chip will have better thermal performance than the M2 chip, which had issues with throttling in games due to the removal of a metal heatsink.

Larger MacBook Air

For the first time since the MacBook Air launched, we may see a larger 15-inch model alongside the 13-inch model. The 15-inch MacBook Air concept has the same design style as the 13-inch model, with a larger 15.6-inch display and extra vertical space next to the notch.

The keyboard is essentially the same size as on the 13-inch model, but there is extra space on the sides where Apple could add some upward-facing speakers. The 15-inch model will have the same ports as the 13-inch model, with a headphone jack on the right side and two Thunderbolt ports and a MagSafe port on the left side.

It is likely that the 15-inch model will come in the same colors as the 13-inch model: Midnight, Space Gray, Starlight, and Silver.

New colors

The 15-inch MacBook M3 MacBook Air may introduce some brand new colors.Examples of new colors that have been rendered include purple and red, which would match with the upcoming iPhone colors.

Naming of the 15-inch MacBook Air

Ming Chico suggests that the new 15-inch MacBook Air might just be called MacBook.Apple did this in the past with three models; the Air, MacBook, and Pro. They could bring back that naming convention.

This would make sense for Apple as the new 15-inch MacBook Air would sit in between the Air and 14-inch MacBook Pro in terms of its offering.

Performance of the 15-inch MacBook Air

Performance

The performance of the new 15-inch MacBook Air has raised a few contradictory reports.According to Digit Times, the 15-inch MacBook Air would come with the M2 chip, while Ming Chico suggests that it will come with both the M2 and M2 Pro.

The 15-inch MacBook Air would outperform the 13-inch MacBook Air, even if the 13-inch MacBook Air comes with the M3 chip.According to 9to5Mac and MacRumours, both the new 15-inch MacBook Air and the 13-inch MacBook Air will have the M3 chip inside.

Fate of the 13-inch MacBook Pro

It would make sense for Apple to discontinue the 13-inch MacBook Pro as it has an old design. The 15-inch MacBook Air has the M2 Pro chip, and it would make zero sense for the 13-inch MacBook Pro to be more powerful than it.

According to Apple Insider, the 13-inch M3 MacBook Air won’t be discontinued but updated with the M3 chip and likely the same design as the M2 and M1 models.

15-inch MacBook Air name

The 15-inch MacBook Air might be called MacBook Air, and both the 15-inch and 13-inch MacBook Airs will have the M3 chip inside. The 15-inch MacBook Air would likely start from around 1500 to 1600, and it would be right above the 13-inch MacBook Pro and less expensive than the 14-inch MacBook Pro.

Battery life

Battery life

The most exciting part about the new 15-inch M3 MacBook Air is its battery life.Even if Apple used the same M2 chip and simply bumped the size to 15 inches, we would likely be getting around 20 hours thanks to the larger battery.

Since this will come with the M3 chip, the battery life will likely be increased to 21 or even 22 hours.Having a large-screen laptop that’s super thin, light, and with an amazing battery life would be awesome for business users.

Release date and rumors

A new listing for a Mac with Bluetooth 5.3 in the Bluetooth launch Studio database by Apple was spotted in late February 2023.This listing suggests that the release date of the new Mac is closer than expected.

There have been several rumors about the release date of the new MacBook Air, with some sources suggesting it will launch between late spring and summer 2023.The most likely option is a new MacBook Air at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June 2023, alongside the new M3 chip.
